The US Mission has announced that it would temporarily suspend all nonimmigrant visa
processing operations in response to Russia's government forcing 755 US diplomatic mission staff to exit the country. According to the US Embassy in Russia, the significant loss of staff members has forced the consulates to reorganize all consular operations, including nonimmigrant visa processing. US consulates in Russia will cancel nonimmigrant visa interviews—including visas for tourists, students, temporary workers, and others—until September 1, 2017, at which time the US will begin processing nonimmigrant visas exclusively at the Moscow Embassy. Visa processing at the St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, and Vladivostok Consulates is indefinitely suspended. Immigrant Visa processing may also be delayed.
